After surgery, it is important to follow your post-op instructions. These may include taking medication as prescribed, not performing specific exercises or following a nutrition plan. If you do not follow these instructions, the results of your surgery may be compromised.

Why Follow Post Surgery Instructions?

After surgery, it’s not just about looking great – it’s about being patient while you allow yourself to heal. Following your post-op instructions is so important for several reasons:

  • Allows for a smoother recovery and minimises the risks of complications during this time.
  • Not following the guidelines can lead to infection and other issues.
  • If infection occurs, it could affect many more parts of your body than just the area where surgery was performed.
  • Starting physical activity too early can impact your wound quality and cause delays in healing.
  • Poor scar care can lead to less-than-desirable scar outcomes.
