Full Body Lift Before and After Photos by Specialist Plastic Surgeon Dr Mark Doyle
Full Body lift surgery, also known as a 360 body lift, a belt lipectomy or a circumeirential lipoabdominoplasty may be a surgery option for you if you have lost significant weight and have excess skin, stretched muscles, and excess fat. Its purpose is to remove excess skin and fat, which allows the body to be firmer and tighter. A full body lift targets multiple areas of the body including the stomach, thighs and buttocks. It can also include an arm lift, which surgically removes excess skin. Within a surgery consultation, you will have the opportunity to discuss your surgery questions with Dr Doyle, he will then recommend which areas of the body he believes require lifting.
A body lift helps to lift and tighten the excess skin, by removing large sheets of excess skin and stubborn fat from the abdomen, hips, outer thighs, arms and upper buttocks area.
As shown above in Dr Doyle’s full-body lift ‘before’ and ‘after’ photos, this procedure may result in a firmer body, with less excess skin and less stubborn fat.

How Much Does A Full Body Lift Cost?
The final cost of a 360 full body lift will be different for each patient. Your specific surgery goals, anaesthetist fees, surgeon fees and hospital fees will all be taken into account when determining a final cost. If certain criteria are met, the procedure may attract a Medicare rebate. Some of the requirements include reaching a specific BMI and the length of time in which you have maintained a healthy weight. Dr Doyle can provide you with a more accurate price estimate during your surgery consultation.

Will Medicare Cover My Body Lift Surgery?
There are some Medicare item numbers that may assist with excess skin reduction surgery (Lipectomy), for high weight loss patients. Please note, that you must meet strict criteria when gaining a Medicare item number and you may also be eligible for a private health insurance subsidy.

What Is Included In A Body Lift?
Generally, a body lift, also known as belt lipectomy surgery treats the abdomen (tummy), the bellybutton, the waist, the hips and the thighs in a single procedure. During this surgery, excess skin and excess fat are removed, and the excess skin is often left behind after significant weight loss.
Is Body Lift Surgery Painful?
During body lift or belt lipectomy surgery, your Anaesthetist will administer general anaesthetic, to ensure you do not feel pain whilst undergoing the surgery. However, following the surgery, you may feel pain around the parts of your body which were operated on. Patients are provided with post-surgery pain relief medication for comfort and optimal recovery. Generally, the pain will subside after a few days.
How Long Does Full Body Lift Surgery Take?
As a complex and personalised surgical procedure, the time taken depends on the amount of excess skin and excess fat that needs to be removed from your body. It may take anywhere from 4 to 7 hours and you will be required to stay overnight at John Flynn Private Hospital for monitoring.
What To Look For In ‘Before’ and ‘After’ Photos
- View a range of surgery results – Remember that surgery results vary;
- Variety of patients – Look for a wide variety of patient body types and results;
- Good quality photos – High resolution ‘before’ and ‘after’ are optimal to ensure the results can be viewed accurately;
- Photos are taken from similar distances – Camera distances should be very similar, to ensure patients’ results are realistic;
- Similar lighting and shading – Lighting should be similar in both the ‘before’ and ‘after’ photos to ensure shadows are not visible;
- Similar body posture and poses – Similar posture is vital when comparing ‘before’ and ‘after’ photos;
- Similar facial expressions and hair/makeup – Look for the surgery results, not a cosmetic makeover.
- Avoid photos photo galleries that showcase photo filters – Many social media posts on Instagram and Facebook use photo-enhancing filters which make results unrealistic.
